Burlington Telecom is bringing service to your neighborhood (FINALLY!)

In the next few weeks, you may see our crews on your street installing fiber-optic cable. But the street installation is only part of the build process. The next step is to bring the fiber cables from the street to your residence. This is called a “drop” and we need your permission to do that.

Why should I do this?
Because the telecom services in your neighborhood are “buried” in the ground, rather than on aerial poles, our building season ends when the ground freezes. Completing the drop to your home now means that we’ll be able to install service whenever you’re ready to sign up. This way our fiber will be ready to be brought into your home if you decide to become a BT customer during the winter months. Doing the drop now saves you time and money.

What is a drop?
The drop is bringing the fiber from the street to your home. Disturbance to your property is minimal and will be restored.

If I decide not to allow the drop now, does that mean I’ll never be able to get Burlington Telecom services in the future?
No. You’ll still be able to order services whenever you are ready. However, if it is winter when the ground is frozen, we may have to wait until the ground has thawed to schedule your installation. If it is when the ground is not frozen, the installation may still take up to several days longer than usual to allow our crews time to do the drop work before the cable can be brought into your home.
