What is the Lifeline Program?
Lifeline is a service offered as part of a government assistance program and is available only to eligible consumers that qualify through their participation in the following government programs or through income.
- Social Security Income
- Federal Public Housing Assistance
- Veterans Pension & Survivors Benefits Program
- Reach Up*
- Fuel Assistance* *Starting November 1, 2017, you’ll no longer be able to use Reach Up or Fuel Assistance to qualify for Lifeline.
Qualified Lifeline customers will receive a monthly credit of $9.25 that can be applied to home internet or phone service.
Already a BT customer?
No problem, just submit your Lifeline application to our office and we will verify your eligibility. Once qualified, the $9.25 credit will automatically be applied to your account.
Lifeline is a non-transferable service and limited to one benefit per household. Once you begin to receive Lifeline benefits, you may only transfer the benefit to a new provider once every 60 days for phone service, or once every 12 months for internet service. Consumers who will fully make false statement(s) to obtain the lifeline benefit can be punished by fine or imprisonment or can be barred from the program. Cannot be combined with other offers.
