Home Networking Today's home network can be so much more than simply connecting a
couple of PCs together and out to the internet. It is more and more common to include your televison, your security system, and any number of wireless
music devices as part of your network.

Connecting multiple computers to your internet connection to create a home network is becoming as common as adding extra telephones. The good news is
that it is not much more complicated than doing just that.
If in the past you have successfully connected to the internet with a single computer and you are trying to setup a home network, you will need a
router, which can be purchased from any computer or office supply outfit, and enough ethernet cables to connect to the various PCs
throughout your home. Alternatively, you could purchase a wireless router and connect wirelessly throughout your home.
Step 1 Make sure that the computer that you have used to connect to the internet via Burlington Telecom is turned on and can
still gain access to the internet. You can verify the computer's internet connection by loading a website via an internet
browser, or by sending and receiving email.
Step 2 Shutdown the computer. Make sure that the computer has completely shutdown before continuing.
Do not disconnect any cables while the computer is shutting down.
Step 3 Disconnect the ethernet cable from the computer and connect it to the appropriate port on the router.
Plug the router into the electrical outlet, and follow the setup documentation provided with your router.
Step 4 Once you're router is configured and your computer has been turned on, check to see if you can view a website via an
internet browser on your computer. If you can't, call us at (802) 540-0007 for further assistance.
